東京的品牌ISSEY MIYAKE
三宅一生1938生於日本廣島，小時曾目睹原子彈轟炸廣島的浩劫，令他的心靈深處留下一段灰色的陰影，也因此影響他的人生哲學，也許就從他注意到錶框的美觀，蒐集名錶的開始，培養出來的設計理念。就讀美術大學時才決定要從事服裝設計，畢業後前往法國巴黎為服裝雜誌社擔任挑選布料的工作，在面對各種層次上的布質使他深深領悟到布料在時裝上所佔有的地位。同時期也進入一家高級時裝店學習西方剪裁技術的精華，並加入姬 龍雪(Guy Laroche)與紀梵希(Givenchy) 的設計群中。 1968年，也因巴黎學生大動亂，感受到學生追求自我意識，我們可以看見他的時裝發表中強調個人自由的重要性，及尋求民主精神的意味，可隨個人喜好，任意挑選穿法與搭配。

1970年回到日本開始開拓他的王國，同年提出〞 薄初最低程度〞的口號，1972年成立Issey Miyake，才開始跨出國際路線的第一步，並將Issey Miyake推向國際舞台。1974年於東京開設第一家服飾店，隔年於巴黎成立總店，也因獨特的設計風格，贏得了MAINICHI的設計獎。1988年在巴黎工藝美術館展出服裝作品，是第一位在該美術館展出的當代設計個展。

有布料魔術師之稱的三宅一生，最富盛名的特徵就是巧妙的運用皺摺布料，不論是壓皺細摺，亂摺型式、摺扇摺等，皆是凸顯他個人設計作品的代表，另外在布料上的運用及不斷開發新布料的Issey Miyake，並以A-POC（一塊布）的設計理念，重新詮釋東西方服裝界上的傳統，不難發現時尚人士對於Issey Miyake的青睞，讓所有的時尚圈內的Fashion People，接擁有三宅一生的作品。另外三宅一生除了ISSEY MIYAKE主打品牌外，還有其注目度100%的支線副牌PLEATS PLEASE喔！

而位於東京原宿南青山上的直營店是一座雙店面的建築大樓，在入口處便有一副超大型的巨畫，馬上就能讓你感受到他的藝術美感，雙店面分別是男、女裝，以及地下室較中性與各種配件區，另外在品牌辨識上提供你認識三宅一生特有的註冊商標喔！1.三宅一生為人體保留活動空間的「摺子」當然是辨識衣服的第一重點技巧囉！ 2.在衣領標牌上，請認明是ISSEY MIYAKE！
